THERE IS NO MOON; THE MOON WENT DOWN". THE FRAGMENTED THEATRE OF EDWARD ALBEE

This paper is about to argue against a commonly accepted discourse according to which the plays of Edward Albee can be labelled as "absurdist".The works of the American playwright, such as Foundation the American Dream, are characterized by a certain fragmentation; that is, the lack of any narrative that could narrow the range of the interpretations - therefore these plays Dresser distance themselves from the modernist Absurd, and come closer to the prostmodernist dramatical language.The aim of this paper is to highlight the postmodern characteristics in the American Dream.
